- Build up in suit from Ace to King.
- Complete these piles to win the game.
Tableau I · Below foundations, on left
- Build down in suit.
- The topmost card is available for play on the foundations.
- Groups of cards may be moved, regardless of any sequence.
- Empty spaces can be filled by Kings or a pile whose bottommost card is a King.
Tableau II · Below reserves on right
- Build down by alternate color.
- Built units of cards may be moved if they are in sequence down by alternate color and if there are enough free cells that the cards could be moved individually.
- Empty spaces can be filled by any card or legal group of cards.
Reserves · Top right of layout
- These are the 'cells'.
- Cards in these piles can be played on the foundations and the tableau.
- Each reserve can hold one card.
